On behalf of the PMAC Executive Committee, Morley Selver, PMAC Secretary and Chair of the PMAC Certification Body granted accreditation status to a new course that would meet the education requirements to write the PMAC Certified Agile Project Manager exam. The new course "Agile PM Bootcamp for Experienced Scrum Masters" is a one-day intense workshop intended to bridge the standard training CSMs receive and the contents of the other accredited agile project manager courses.

Certified Scrum Masters normally receive 2 days of training. The PMAC Cert.APM exam tests against standard Scrum knowledge, but the exam goes further into the practical management of Scrum projects within large organizations. Recognizing the value in the existing CSM courses, PMAC has allowed an alternate path for Cert.APM exam candidates who already hold their CSM qualification -- these candidates would be able to take the accredited 1-day upgrade workshop instead of a regular 3-day course.

PMAC hopes that, by accrediting this alternate education path, more Scrum Masters will seek further project management training in how to manage Scrum projects in complex organizational environments, such as in large corporations, government, and highly-regulated scenarios. By providing a means of recognizing those who have learned practical techniques for managing Scrum projects in complex environments, PMAC hopes to further the acceptance of Scrum and agile project management methods in the workplace.

The first session of this new course "Agile PM Bootcamp for Experienced Scrum Masters" will be schedule this fall, on Friday, September 10th in Toronto in conjunction with the 2010 PMAC Annual General Meeting. Those who complete the course can sit the Certified Agile Project Manager exam on Saturday, December 11 at the PMAC AGM.

Following up on our success at ProjectWorld Toronto 2010 we are planning on being at ProjectWorld Vancouver on October 25 -26, 2010. PMAC-AGPC will have a booth at the event promoting the association's competence and Agile PM certifications and will be represented on one of the discussion panels.

We are looking for volunteers to help out. If you live in the Vancouver area, or anywhere in Canada, and want to participate in ProjectWorld Vancouver 2010, send an e-mail to Morley Selver, our Director of Certification (bmoj@bmoj.com) and let him know you are interested. He will be there, so why not you as well?
